In popular culture, the hacker is almost universally portrayed as a savant. But what if they’re actually an idiot with a checkbook? And not a particularly large one? IT security firm Trustwave’s researchers did some digging and found that, in many cases, sophisticated and effective malware programs can be purchased on the underground market for less than the cost of an Xbox.
Working with research provided by Trustwave and Mission Control Communications, I put together this info graphic to help Trustwave tell this story. The most enjoyable part as a designer was coming up with faux packaging for each of the malware applications.
